The Most Essential Vitamins

Vitamins are the organic compounds that the body needs to carry out essential functions such as maintaining a healthy immune system, regulating body metabolism, and aiding tissue growth.

Vitamin C: This is a water-soluble vitamin that plays a crucial role in the immune system. It’s also an antioxidant, thus helping in neutralizing the free radicals that accelerate the aging of cells. Orange juice, red peppers, grapefruit, cherries, and kales are vitamin C sources.

Vitamin B-12: This is an essential vitamin. It’s the co-enzyme that helps in the conversion of food to energy. The “wonder-vitamin” is available in the following forms: liquids, pills, and injections. However, the most effective method to get Vitamin B-12 is by eating chicken, beef, fish, fortified breakfast cereals, and eggs.

Vitamin D: Vitamin D is important for colon and bone health. Your skin usually generates it when you are exposed to sunlight. In today’s modern life, many people operate indoors, away from the sun. Therefore, supplementing Vitamin D is important to maintain healthy levels that boost bone and colon structure. Foods with broccoli, egg yolks, fatty fish, and cereals have Vitamin D.

Vitamin A: This vitamin is known to be good for your eyes. It also helps in fighting chronic diseases. Vitamin A is found in meat (the liver), carrots, and other pigmented vegetables.
