Yassine Elmaachi the recent Prizefighter winner attended a press conference at London Shootfighters held for him by the london based Morrocan organisation Al Maghareba and covered by the Aljazeera TV channel to help raise awareness and support for him from people in his homecountry of Morrocco.

During the press conference Yassine was asked where he hopes to see his career head now and who he hopes to chellenge next. Yassine replied that he wants to take on Matthew Hatton and that he would destroy him! Also during the press conference, Yassines promoter Steve Goodwin spoke and mentioned how Yassines next fight may be for a world title eliminator, which if he wins will mean that his next fight will be for a world title! The future is only looking bright for Yassine and we here at Boxing Evolution are certain he will be the next world champ.

On the 14th of May Flave from Boxing Evolution took part in the WCBC (World Class Boxing Council) 8 man tournament. The tournament is a replica of the extremely popular professional contest known as the Prizefighter. This particular contest consisted of 3*2 minutes rounds in each stage and the overall winner claming a prize of £1500.

Fight 1 Flave vs Roger Campbell

For his quarter final contest Flave was matched with Roger Campbell who is the current WCBC middleweight British champion.

Round 1: Flave comes out keeping his gaurd high and just takes his time to get relaxed and using his jab to feel out his opponent. Campbell comes out all guns blazing unloading a flurry of combos on Flave, none of which manage to get through due to Flaves effective guard. Campbell remains doing most of the work througout this round albeit to little success. However just before the end of round one he catches Flave with an excellent hook which dazes Flave. Flave manages to hold on untill the end of the round. The round goes to Campbell due to his work rate and clean connecting punch at the end.

Round 2: Flave now comes out immediately with a change of pace. Throwing alot of punches and catches Campbell with a few clean punches throughout the round. Campbell fights back but does not have as much luck connecting. The round goes to Flave.

Round 3: Flave continues his pace from the previous round where as Campbells pace has begun to noticeably drop due to his exhertion in round 1 and 2. Flave capitalises on this outworking Campbell through the whole round. Campbell puts up a tough fight right to the end thou.

Decision: Unanimous to Flavell. Flave is now through to the semi Final and is drawn against Adam Dicks.

Fight 2 Flave vs Adam Dicks

Round 1: Flave comes out alot more relaxed now after his first fight and adopts a more open gaurd using his counterboxing skills, jab and lead hand hook to notch up the points. The round goes to Flave.

Round 2: Dicks immediately comes out with a flurry of punches forcing Flave to the ropes. Flave covers up and avoids recieving any blows. Flave immediately returns a flurry of blows to the head and body of dicks, causing him to take a knee at one point. Flave keeps the pressure one till the end of the round scoring points with his jab. The round goes to Flave.

Round 3: Dicks comes out working hard to try and secure some points in the last round. Flave also fight hard to remain ahead. In the end Flave lands the cleaner punches and secures the round.

Decision: Unanimous to Flave. Flave is now through to the Final against Paul Dyer.

Fight 3 Flave vs Paul Dyer

Paul Dyer is an ex pro of  30 pro fights and 75 amatuer fights!

Round 1: Flave is told the best strategy to use against Dyer is to put him under pressure. Flave immediately comes out at the first bell using bob and weave head movement to work his way in and scores a couple of points strait away.  Dyer then uses his experience to tie Flave up before he can land anymore punches. Flave keeps the pressure on for the whole round but Dyer keeps tying Flave up. Flave scores a couple more points towards the end of the round. The round goes to Flave.

Round 2: Flave comes out with a counter-boxing style and has a bit of a chess match game with dyer. Flave then applies pressure again catching Dyer with a few shots. Dyer manages to tie Flave up and land some scoring body blows. Most of the fight is played out on the inside. Dyer edges the round due to his experience on the inside.

Round 3: This again was a very close round with both Flave and Dyer working extremely hard to gain the decision. Towards the end of the round Dyer landed a clean hook with sent Flave stumbling back into the ropes. Flave managed to hold on till the bell. This gave Dyer the round.

Decision: Unanimous to Dyer.

Conclusion

Although Flave was extremely dissapointed at not having won the competition, he was very proud of his performance, especially against Dyer who has so much more experience than Flave. Flave was commended by the other coaches there on his brilliant display of heart and was told by Dyer himself he could go places in boxing. Flave is now enjoying the summer but thinking about having his next fight in September. Please keep your posted for news on his next fight.

On Tuesday June 7th Boxing Evolution associated boxer Yassine ‘The Showman’ Elmaachi won the Prizefighter championship, beating two former world champions, Colin Lynes and Junior Witter! This was an excellent opportunity for Yassine to get recognised on the national and international scene after having been dodged by all the top boxers in britain. Now he will be getting the chances he truly deserves.

Yassine is an excellent amabassador for Boxing Evolution as he embodies the core value B.E represents, persistance, determination and self belief.

Yassine refused to be assigned the role of journeyman in the world of boxing, refusing to lose despite risking his future career in boxing, most noticeably causing a big upset against future prospect Kevin Conception.

Yassine was determined to make something of himself despite all the odds being stacked against him. After defeating Conception by KO in the 2nd round he now became the lead member of the ‘who needs him’ club. Yassine became avoided by all of britains top boxers, and even being banned from the previous light middle weight Prizefighter due to the other contenders not wanting him in it.

The future was looking bleak but then Yassine met promoter Steve Goodwin. Steve saw the potential and possibilities of highly charismatic young boxer and decided to back him. Goodwin managed secure Yassine some excellent opportunities, namely against Bertrand Aloah of France for the Masters International light-middleweight belt which Yassine won putting Aloah down in the 9th, and then a title defence against Haitian WBC champ and European number 4 Jimmy Colas, which Yassine won displaying clear levels of skill above Colas.

It was then that Goodwin pulled his ultimate rabbit out of the hat, by securing Yassine a place in the Prizefighter welterweights 2. This was going to be a make or break opportunity for Yassine, but ‘The Showman’ knew in his heart that this was going to be his moment to shine.

True to form Yassine won the Prizefighter despite only having a months notice, 2 weeks illness and limited sparring. He won this competition largely on his natural skill, ability and heart beating former world champions, even causing Junior Witter to miss a punch and stumble and fall out of the ring crashing into a camera man!  So imagine what he will be capable with the right training.

Yassine’s success is largely due to his unwaivering belief in himself and is an inspiration to those around him to not let anything stand in your way when you go after your goals. His trademark smile is surely only going to get bigger from now on. Hopefully we will be seeing him fight for a British and then European title very soon.

Sharaz has been with Boxing Evolution since it began 18 months ago. He is an extremely devoted boxer and puts in 110% into training and this clearly showed on the night.  Sharaz made Boxing Evolution extremely proud.

FlavellFlave now wants to give something back to the Princes Trust. FlavellFlave does alot of work with the Princes Trust already due to the success he has achieved since and has now been made an honourary enterprise amabassador.

FlavellFlave is selling tickets for his match and all the profit that he makes he is donating to the Princes trust. The money is going to be made available for young people in the Slough and Maidenhead area. The money will be used to fund young people to either go on one of the Princes Trust courses or even to come and do training with Boxing Evolution should they feel that getting physically active will help them become more motivated. Ultimately it is down to the young person and what they want to choose. He is hoping that local businesses will get involved by either organising a work social night out to come and watch him box, contributing to the fund out of generosity, or even getting onboard with future charity white collar boxing matches.

FlavellFlave says this is a brilliant way to integrate local businesses and the community to start making real changes in the Slough area and is just the start of many more things I plan to do to raise money.
